Artistic Director David Hill on the 2019 Festival

For his second year as Festival Director David Hill has chosen to focus on two main themes: women composers and music by, and inspired by, Bach.

He talked to Adrian Peel of Cambridge Independent about the variety of concerts on offer and how important he feels it is to make the Festival appealing to everyone:

“My hope is it is the sort of programme that will interest a lot of people….If you set out to be intensely serious, that’s fine, but the Cambridge Summer Music Festival is about people dipping in and out of things that really interest them, and throughout must embrace all aspects of music that people might want to be listening to.” ”
