Lunchtime Concert: Ben Comeau

Wednesday 17 July 2019, 1.10pm
Corpus Christi College Chapel

(by kind permission of the Masters and Fellows of Corpus Christi College)

If you were lucky enough to attend pianist Ben Comeau’s  recital last year, you’ll remember his eclectic programming and extraordinary ability to improvise on audience-suggested themes. This year promises to be just as entertaining, with music straddling several centuries and many genres – as well as linking with the Festival’s focus on JS Bach.

Ben will pair Bach’s rhythmic fugues and canons with pieces inspired by dance and folk music – from Ravel’s Alborada del gracioso and works by his lesser-known compatriot Germaine Taileferre, to Chiquinha Gonzaga, one of the most famous composers of choro, ragtime’s Brazilian cousin. Ben will finish with improvisations on audience requests.
