Barokksolistene: The Alehouse Sessions

For our second Sounds Green we welcome period-instrument pioneers Barokksolistene of Norway. Founded and led by violinist and Artistic Director Bjarte Eike, Barokksolistene is a baroque ensemble that “brings the raw rhythms of Scandinavian folk music to the high baroque” (Financial Times). Drawing on their native influences and traditions they produce projects and programmes that range from performances of Handel’s operas to their unique, branded Alehouse Sessions.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of song spanning the centuries in Cambridge’s glorious Botanic Garden. And come along afterwards as the party continues in The Eagle, one of Cambridge’s most beloved historic pubs.

“Imagine an Irish folk band ranging in time back to the taverns of Purcell’s era and geographically across Europe, then delivering the pot pourri in a storm of stamping, dancing and raucous humour. Irresistible.” (The Times 2014)
