On Wednesday evenings in July Cambridge University Botanic Garden rings to the sound of live music when we present Sounds Green – the best in open-air music. Bring a rug and a picnic; open to all ages. Food, ice creams and drinks on sale.
A stylish and elegant singer-pianist, Ruth Applin presents classic jazz, blues and bossa nova featuring material drawn from the Great American Songbook and singers such as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. Ruth will be joined by acclaimed saxophonist Josh Kemp – ‘Wonderfully rich toned… a nuanced and original sound,’ (Time Out), together with the swinging rhythm section of Tom Mark on double bass and Les Cirkel on drums.
Music from 6.15pm to 7.30pm; garden closes at 8.00pm
Retiring collection towards the cost of concerts – please look out for stewards bearing buckets as you leave!
Please note: Due to limited capacity and to avoid disappointment all paying visitors should buy garden tickets in advance via the Botanic Garden website, on sale from June 2019. Tickets may also be available on the gate, but this cannot be guaranteed. Book tickets now. Friends of the Botanic Garden and CU students are admitted free.
