Jonathan Ryan organ
American organist Jonathan Ryan has six major international prizes, a Grammy award nomination and a critically acclaimed début CD under his belt. Today he puts the exceptionally fine three-manual Binns organ (built in 1892) at Queens’ through its paces with a varied programme of 19th and 20th century works. The programme will include Comes Autumn Time by Leo Sowerby, Dudley Buck’s Variations on the Last Rose of Summer, selections from Calvin Hampton’s Five Dances three études by Robert Schumann and Alexandre Guilmant’s mighty first sonata (later re-worked as a symphony for organ and orchestra).
