Patrick Hemmerlé: piano

J.S. Bach The Well-Tempered Clavier Book I

French pianist Patrick Hemmerlé undertakes one of the great challenges in the piano repertoire, playing both books of Bach’s masterpiece in two performances during the Festival: Book I this afternoon, and Book II on Wednesday 26 July. To hear all the 48 Preludes and Fugues in concert is an unforgettable experience, rarely offered. Patrick Hemmerlé won First Prize at the Paris Conservatoire in 2002 and has lived in Cambridge since 2011.

“I’ve never known anyone play the 48 as revealingly….the people in the room were on the edge of their seats all evening.” Paul Snelgrove, organiser of recital by Patrick Hemmerlé of the Well Tempered Clavier Book I at the Eglise Ecossaisse, Paris, 29 April 2017.
